Mary Jo Spallina, C.N.M. is a 2001 graduate of the University of Rochester Nurse-Midwifery Program. Her undergraduate degrees include an AAS from Monroe Community College and a BSN from SUNY Brockport. She is a board-certified lactation consultant and a birth educator with 30 years of Ob/Gyn experience. The word midwife means to be “with women.” Nurse-midwifery practice is the independent management of women’s health care, focusing particularly on pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period, family planning, and the gynecological needs of patients.
